Rhodiola is an Endurance Enhancer
Rhodiola is traditionally used to treat fatigue and to improve performance capacity, both mental and physical. This plant, which has more than 200 different species, is native to mountainous areas in Europe, Asia, and the Arctic, and has an established reputation as an excellent adaptogen, or an enhancer of endurance. If you want to help your body perform well in spite of exhaustion, hot temperatures, or water and air pollutants, you should consider using rhodiola. The roots of several species of rhodiola are used medicinally, and the most popular is rosea, also known as "golden root" or "Arctic root." Not only does this herb fight fatigue and increase energy levels, but because it works by influencing and balancing neurochemicals in the brain called monoamines (e.g., dopamine and serotonin), it can, therefore, bring about improvements in such illnesses as fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Recent research suggests that rhodiola may also be able to stabilize the body during times of acute stress. Use caution when purchasing rhodiola because the capsule content can vary by as much as 200 or more milligrams. If you buy it as an extract, 10 drops equals about 100 milligrams. Because of this products stimulating effect, you should start by taking a low dose and gradually increasing it until you reach the recommended amount. High doses could cause insomnia, and it should be taken early in the day so that it doesnt cause sleeplessness. Do not take it if pregnant or breastfeeding.
